A cave! The strange thing is a huge sculpture and the tiny things at the bottom are cars! The carpark is in the cave-mouth. The cave paintings are at a distance of 1km along a large passage. Some I show below. The people who did them did not live in the cave, but were nomadic hunter- gatherers. The oldest is 13,000 years old; the end of the last glaciation. They did no more after 10,000 years ago. Probably because their way of life changed as the climate warmed. They are mountain goat (bouquetin), bison, and a most unusual one, a stoat! |
